Our Story...
In the spring of 2001, what was previously the LaRosh Egg farm, and at one time a dairy farm was put up for auction. We purchased the farm in the hopes that we can, once again, make it something wonderful.
Years of neglect had taken it's toll and the farm was in sad condition. In 1998, an F1 tornado ripped through the property and compounded the repairs that were already many. The massive chicken house, an area used to house chickens and harvest eggs during the LaRosh operation, had been stripped of almost all of it's siding and the side which faced the tornado had been completely blown out. The roof of every building was in need of at least some repair, some of which needed to be completely replaced. One of the grain bins was damaged beyond repair and has since been converted to a banquet space. The most significant structure, the barn, had several large holes in it's roof. Some the size of a small car. Because of someone's creativity, we were able to salvage the barn. After the tornado damage, someone had spread out a tarp over the floor of most of the 4th level. It was used to catch the rain water that made it through the damaged roof. We truly believe that this act saved the barn and for that we are thankful. We haven't been able to determine the exact date of the barn's original construction but it is certain that the building was here long before most of us and has since been a long-standing landmark in our community. So many people remember coming to LaRosh Egg farm to purchase eggs with their family. We hope to make it a place where family and friends can meet again.
What we've become...
We are starting small but we do have big hopes for the future of the farm. A small section of the chicken house is now our shop. We specialize in fresh seasonal vegetables from our on-site garden. Garden plots are available for rent for those that don't have space at home to grow. We also sell potted plants, fresh flower arrangements (when available), antiques, jewelry, purses, quilts, candles, and other unique gifts. We are taking the profits from the shop and putting them back into the farm.
We have now converted the bottom floor of our barn into a unique banquet space. The space we have created is authentic and intimate. It's perfect if you are looking for something out of the ordinary. We also offer unique services that are harder to find. We offer bonfire and hayrack rides for small additional fees. It's the perfect place for a picnic, birthday party, club meeting, or (our favorite) wedding. Call 309-642-4776 for pricing and availability.
There is plenty of room to take your dog for a walk (leash required) or enjoy the fresh air with the family. The property also houses a pond that we do allow people to fish for a small fee. Bait and pole are provided.
We believe in the importance of family and friends so we would like Proven Ground to be a place where people can enjoy the company of those people and celebrate special events in their lives together.
Vote for your favorite charity and Wishing Well proceeds will be donated to the one with the most votes.

People are often unreasonable and self-centered... Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind people may accuse you of ulterior motives... Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you... Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous... Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, may be forgotten... Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough...
Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God.
It never was between you and them anyway.
